Personal Work
[un]masked
Date: March - October 2020
My Roles: Photographer, Retoucher
Artist Statement:
The COVID-19 pandemic has made me question my identity: my priorities, relationships, political associations, involvement in communities, and reliance on those around me.
I feel parts of myself have been metaphorically unmasked during this time when protective masks are required to go outside. To explore this further, this project seeks to capture a single masked portrait of many individuals and explore the interplay between the hiding/showing of identity and the feeling of protection/vulnerability.
Further documentary photographs of the physical public space in Berlin during the pandemic lockdown attempts to shed light on the way that the world has come to a halt during this time.
